Zealandia Small Group Eco Wildlife Night Tour

Begin inside the Visitor Centre’s interactive exhibition, where a short film and introduction set the scene before your guide leads the group into Zealandia: The Exhibition. This indoor exhibition explores New Zealand’s evolution, natural history, and conservation movement, providing useful context before the night walk begins.

After dark, head out by torchlight through the sanctuary with your guide, listening for the sounds of New Zealand’s native forest and watching for wildlife that emerges at night. The walk continues into Sanctuary Valley, described as the world’s first fully fenced urban eco-sanctuary, where the focus turns to nocturnal species that live within the reserve.

One of the highlights is the chance to search for little spotted kiwi, along with other night-active animals that call the sanctuary home. Located just minutes from central Wellington, Zealandia offers a guided evening experience that combines the structure of an exhibition visit with the atmosphere of a forest walk after sunset.
