Half-day Wellington small group tour with Mount Victoria Lookout, Weta Cave, coastal views, lunch, and options including the Cable Car or Botanical Gardens.

Tour Overview

See Wellington in half a day on a small group tour with a maximum of 11 guests, combining city views, film craft, coastline and gardens. Led by a local driver guide, the experience is personal and relaxed, with stories and insights shaped by local knowledge.

The tour includes sweeping views over the city and harbour from the Mount Victoria Lookout, along with a scenic drive the length of Oriental and Evans Bay Parades, where you can spot the private cable cars climbing to houses along the ridge line. There is also time at the Weta Cave retail and museum space, where you can look at movie props and effects work linked to the Weta group of companies. If time and availability allow, you may also watch an exclusive behind the scenes documentary on the company’s history.

Along the way, you will learn about local geography, history, flora and fauna while looking across Cook Strait to the Kaikoura Ranges in the South Island, and take in the view across the white sand beach to the entrance of Wellington Harbour. Lunch is included at a local café known for freshly prepared, locally caught seafood, with a main and drink provided and options for different dietary needs.

Depending on your choice, you can also take the Wellington Cable Car from Lambton Quay to Kelburn, visit the Cable Car Museum, walk through the Botanical Gardens to the Lady Norwood Rose Garden, or finish at Old St. Paul’s Cathedral.
