Sightseeing tour of Wellington with stops at Mt Victoria, Lyall Bay and the cable car, plus views of Parliament Buildings, the harbour and coast.

Tour Overview

Make the most of your time in port with a sightseeing tour that introduces Wellington through its key landmarks, coastal views, and hilltop lookouts. This tour focuses on the capital’s civic heart and the places that help define the city, from Parliament Buildings, locally known as The Beehive, to the historic Premier House, home of New Zealand’s Prime Minister.

The route heads up Mt Victoria, where a stop at the viewing platform opens up wide views across the harbour and city. From there, the tour continues to Lyall Bay beach, passing Wellington Airport and sections of rugged coastline. On clear days, there are views toward the South Island. You will also pass Barrett’s Reef, the site where the ferry Wahine struck the reef on 10 April 1968 before capsizing near Seatoun during a hurricane, with 52 lives lost.

Another highlight is Wellington’s iconic cable car, which first carried passengers in 1902. After travelling to the top and visiting the museum there, you can take in more panoramic views over the harbour and city. The tour also passes the Botanic Gardens and goes through the Lady Norwood Rose Garden, rounding out a well-paced introduction to Wellington’s built landmarks and natural setting.
