Wellington Cave to Coast Highlights Tour (5 Hours with Lunch)

See Wellington from its harbour edge to its exposed south coast on this 5 hour guided highlights tour. The route begins with panoramic views from the Mount Victoria Lookout, then follows a scenic coastal drive along Oriental Parade and around the Miramar Peninsula.

A stop at the Weta Cave retail and museum space adds a film focus to the day, with an optional behind the scenes documentary viewing if time and availability allow. From there, the tour continues to the rugged south Wellington Coast, where your guide shares local history, geography, flora and fauna while you look across the Cook Strait toward the South Island. There is also a stop above the city at the Brooklyn Wind Turbine, where you can learn about the history of New Zealand’s first wind turbine.

Lunch is included, with a main and a drink served at a seaside cafe.

Depending on time and your preference, the tour can include central city stops such as the Wellington Cable Car from Lambton Quay to Kelburn, with views from the platform and history in the Cable Car Museum. From the top, there is an optional 20 minute walk through the Botanical Gardens to the Lady Norwood Rose Garden, weather permitting. The final stop is Old St. Paul’s Cathedral, with optional entry at your own expense.
