Five-hour food and drink tour in Petone, with coffee on the foreshore, tastings at Forage, chocolate making, and craft beer before returning to Wellington.

Tour Overview

Spend five hours tasting your way through Petone, Wellington’s historic seaside suburb, with a tour built around local food, drink, and the character of the foreshore and Jackson Street.

The first stop is a specialty coffee roastery on the Petone foreshore, where local staff explain the history of the roastery and trace the journey of coffee beans from shrub to cup. You will try coffee prepared three ways, with tasting notes and a clear look at how each method changes flavour and character.

From there, visit Forage to sample locally sourced and produced foods, with a focus on dairy and seasonal tastes. You then have extra time to explore Petone at your own pace, including Jackson Street, known here as the suburb’s foodie hub.

The tour continues with a chocolatier visit for a tasting and chocolate making lesson. Using French and European inspired recipes adapted to locally sourced New Zealand products, the chocolatier works with premium chocolate including Valrhona Couverture Chocolate.

The final stop is a local craft brewery for a tasting of its range of locally produced craft beer. After a half day of coffee, dairy, chocolate, and beer, the tour returns you to Wellington with drop off at 2:45pm.
