eBike ride on the Remutaka Cycle Trail from Maymorn or Kaitoke to Featherston, with transport from Wellington, picnic lunch and shuttle return.

Tour Overview

Ride one of the flagship sections of the Remutaka Cycle Trail on an eBike, with transport from Wellington Station or, for cruise ship guests, Wellington Port. You’ll be shuttled to the trailhead at either Maymorn or Kaitoke, then set off on a 28km easy to moderate ride through the Remutaka Ranges.

The trail follows the old railway line through Pakuratahi Forest, where native birdlife, bridges and tunnels shape the ride. Along the way, you can stop at information stations that explain the construction of the Fell railway system, a New Zealand first at the time and one of only a few in the world. The route combines rail history with changing landscape, from forested sections to open views near the summit.

At the top, there’s a picnic lunch on a large grassy plateau beside the remains of a historic station. After lunch, the ride changes pace with a controllable descent to Cross Creek in the Wairarapa, with views across farming country.

The day finishes with pickup from The Royal Hotel in Featherston and a shuttle back over the Remutaka ranges and down the Hutt Valley to Wellington. eBikes, trunk bags, transport and food are included, so you only need suitable clothing and to be ready to ride.
