Private 7-hour tour from Wellington to Martinborough and Gladstone with cheese, wine, olive oil and chocolate tastings, plus a Remutaka summit stop.

Tour Overview

Travel from Wellington to the South Wairarapa on a 7 hour private tour with your own dedicated driver guide. This is a private experience with no mixed groups, with time to take in the changing scenery on the way to Martinborough and Gladstone.

A stop at the Remutaka mountain summit, 555 metres above sea level, adds a clear sense of place. Here you can look out over the pass and see the Remutaka Crossing monument, which commemorates the 60,000 New Zealand troops who crossed from the military camp in Featherston to the Port of Wellington between 1915 and 1918. This stop is weather dependent.

Food and drink tastings are a central part of the day. Visit C'est Cheese to sample locally made cheeses, including Remutaka Pass, and other New Zealand cheeses. In Martinborough, taste up to five wines at Poppies and sit down to the well known Poppies platter lunch made with local produce. You may also visit Juno Olives for an olive grove walk and extra virgin olive oil tasting, noting this may not be available during harvest season.

The tour also includes an artisan chocolate factory, and the beautiful town of Martinborough, known as the capital of Pinot Noir of the North Island. Wine and craft beer tastings are for guests aged 18 and over. Cruise ship passengers follow a slightly reduced itinerary.
