Martinborough Foodie Half Day Tour from Wellington

Travel over the Remutaka Ranges on a guided 5 hour round trip from Wellington into the Wairarapa, a region known here for cheese, chocolate, and pinot noir. The journey includes a stop at the 555m summit, where the route opens out to wide views before descending into the valley.

On the far side of the range, the first tasting is at C'est Cheese artisan deli. Here you’ll share a cheese platter from local cheesemaker Paul Broughton, featuring freshly made local cheeses. From there, continue to Martinborough, a well known pinot noir producing wine region, for a wine tasting flight at one of the local wineries.

The tour then heads to Greytown for a tasting at Schoc Chocolates, where local chocolatier Murray Langham’s sweet creations are the focus. Each stop offers a different side of Wairarapa’s food and wine scene, from artisan dairy to regional wine and handcrafted chocolate.

The return to Wellington follows the Remutaka Incline, rounding out a day that combines a scenic mountain crossing with a sequence of tastings in Martinborough and Greytown. This is a clear, well paced way to experience some of the named producers and flavours of the Wairarapa.
