Axe Throwing Lesson and Tournament

Join a public axe throwing session at Sweet Axe, described as New Zealand’s first axe throwing venue. These sessions are run by friendly Axe-perts who provide full training before the games begin, making it suitable whether you are trying axe throwing for the first time or arriving a little unsure.

You will be guided through a range of throwing techniques to help you find the style that works best for you, then take part in a series of hosted games with commentary and refereeing from the team. With a maximum of six players per lane, there is plenty of time to throw rather than wait. All equipment is provided, and no previous experience is needed.

Sweet Axe places a strong focus on safety, community and fun, with simple instruction designed to help nervous throwers settle in quickly and start aiming for the target with confidence. The venue is fully accessible and suitable for ages 12 to 99, which makes it a practical option for birthdays, get togethers, date nights and work functions.

After the throwing session, the on site games bar gives you space to keep the competition going with free pool, table tennis and video games. For larger groups or private sessions, additional options are available through Sweet Axe.
