Private 8-hour tour from Wellington to the Kāpiti Coast, visiting Paekakariki Hill, Southwards Car Museum and Ngā Manu with driver-guide.

Tour Overview

Travel from Wellington on a private 8 hour tour of the Kāpiti Coast with your own dedicated driver and guide throughout the day.

The tour begins with a climb to the top of Paekakariki Hill, where the view opens across the Kapiti Coast and out to Kapiti Island. On clear days, you may also see the top of the South Island, Mt Taranaki, and Mt Ruapehu. At Queen Elizabeth Park, you visit the memorial to the American Marines of World War 2, before continuing to Camp McKay at Paekakariki, where a Volunteer Historian shares what life was like for the US Marine Corps and local communities during the war.

At Southwards Car Museum, explore a collection of more than 400 vehicles and three aircraft, one of the largest private motor vehicle collections in the Southern Hemisphere. In Waikanae, lunch is served at either Hey Coastie or Long Beach Cafe, followed by time at Waikanae Beach with more views toward Kāpiti Island.

The day also includes a visit to Ngā Manu, where you can see tuatara up close, walk through native bird aviaries with a guide, and visit the nocturnal house where kiwi may be seen. The tour finishes with award winning gelato from Zelati.
